Here is Nova and Pearl dancing into each other's hearts, as Steven and Bruce look on. These girls only appear in this one scene, but it was powerful, especially as it showed a Lesbian kiss, which at the time was considered racy by the censors...and almost cut from the commercial. Thankfully cooler heads prevailed and the animated scene was left in the final cut.
There was no live action referenced at all for the character animation in this Ad, it all came from my head and heart... and experience of doing ballroom/latin dancing for about 8 years of my child/teen life.
Devised by the Desire Brand Management, and Produced by Filmgraphics (the job landed by my pitch artwork). I was the Animation Director, Musical Director (music composed by Super Sonic in Sydney), did the storyboards and animation, and created the character model sheets (with Brooks). Presented here as portfolio work.
