This huge collection of characters was the Centerfold for the 1st issue of WaveDancers. Not all the WaveDancers characters in the original story are present in this Centerfold as they were to be held off to be revealed later in the story. Such as Raenafel for instance. It's not often that all the characters are in one panel in the comic, but when they are, it was a heavy duty panel to render, but they always looked great to me as an elfin tribe.
For this painting I painted the background fully over the finished pencil line art, then I layered the characters in paint over the thickly painted background. It was a task to bring them off the background colors, but it was early days in my painting experience.
When laying out this as a pencil drawing, I did the tailed characters first to establish their greater spacial needs, then I interlaced the legged characters around them.
This is a special work for me, and I thought it looked better then the other ElfQuest centerfolds that came out during this time.
I agree with you on it looking better than most of the other EQ centerfolds...The others were in my opinion a bit static... they felt somehow lifeless to me and not at all interacting with each other...
Yours, it's alive and dynamic... The balance of the piece is great...With the tentacles and the tails/fins as an ancor to the whole. It's really one big piece instead of just some random character placed on a sheet, grouped together...Acually this is the piece that introduced me to your work
The only pieces i liked from the other centerfolds were 'the wolfriders now' and 'the Go-backs'... the others were, as i said, static.(and the colouring on them was aweful)
Yours was indeed the better one of them... And i am just a sucker for your colouring..
Holy cow! You must have slaved for days over this! You manage to give all these characters such distinct personalities and include such vibrant colors and details. Awesome work! Your stuff impresses me more and more, keep up the fantastic work!
Awesome centerfold. They all look great together, and you did an excellent job when using the space you had. I'd have to say the lady with the octupus legs is my favorite in the whole piece.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!

I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P

But just one question... if they're supposed to be underwater, how are there humanoid looking things? Don't you need fins to swim around under water?
