This is an ancient painting of mine. It was one of the first that I completed. I did this at the age of 20. The work was a finished in black and white, with stippling as the inking treatment. I ended up doing an 8 page mermaid story that went along with this artwork, and this then was painted up as the back cover to a self published comic book called "Oblagon".

This self published comic was instrumental in helping myself and co-creators Julie Ditrich and Bruce Love to land our first American published comic work "WaveDancers", as it showed we could see "it" to the finish, which is something that as a publisher you need to see from a new comic creator, as there are so many people that want to create comics but cannot fulfill finishing a singular work.

This is actually my first published work as well. It set the tone for my interest in mermaid art and predates my work on WaveDancers.

The colors were done in dyes with some acrylic touches/details.
