This was published in 1999 as the final panel for the 6 page short story featuring Joe Linsners Dawn as a mermaid. In the story Darrian (Dawns' returning lover) is depicted as an angel that leaves heaven and falls in love with Dawn (who is depicted as a mermaid. Two crossed lovers from different worlds). Once their love is "consummated" by their embrace, the big hand of God comes down and forcefully reclaims Darrian to be one of his "gay" Angels. here he is chained up in punishment for daring to love another other than God (who is in a relationship with Lucifer in this story). He no longer has his Halo which he gave to Dawn, and he wears a broken heart which was given him by Dawn. There are homoerotic overtones in this panel, especially that all the Angels are nude as they mock battle for Gods amusement.
I enjoyed creating the pink and gold palet for heaven. Painted in Acrylics on Watercolor Paper.
