Antony and Cleopatra shown here during their golden years together. Antony was now living in Egypt with Cleopatra, and was the King consort to the Egyption Queen. They both hold the staves of ruling from upper and lower Egypt that a Pharaoh holds, one in each hand. Here showing their devotion, Antony and Cleopatra intimately holding each other, each hold one of these ruling staves, reaching out together over their beloved land of Egypt.

Apart from being used as Game art for Aristocrat, the company also used this art (with some printed foil adjustments and seasons greetings) as their Christmas card for 2005.

Captures well what I believe was the basis of their chemistry; two people who lived in the isolation of their own power and status, trapped in the golden cage so to speak. By submitting to each other they were able to experience the relief of self-surrender, but also the thrill of power over another that no throne or office could possibly give.

Exactly... You've expressed in words how I was expressing them visually.

I had a lot of reference as these historical characters have many painted representations. I wanted to absorb all of what I saw of them, so I could create something new and different in their presentation. I hope I have added something to the significant collection of images these two classic characters have inspired.
