This one is a little more "out there" then my usual work. A reference/reminiscence to Salvador Dali is certainly high praise.
I first saw his originals in several galleries last visit I took to the USA. It was amazing to see the original artworks so close... close enough that I could see his rush strokes... Seeing his artwork this close made it more "real" and "achievable" then ever before, almost like I was seeing the artist apply the brush stroke in front of me. Before then, Based in Sydney Australia as I am, I had only seen his art in artbooks and art text books, and in such presentations ... the applied hand of the artist is lost in the screen of the printing, and therefore the "how" of their art is more of a mystery. But on seeing his originals... I could see his painted brush strokes... his paint brush hit the surface... just like mine... WOW what a revelation... So even I could possibly create artwork as significant. Just my vision is not as developed, or should I say... internally complex as his work, which obviously is what bring his work to great heights.
This artwork is my first real exploration in being less literal or "illustrative" in my art then I usually am... thanks for picking up on my direction for this artwork.
